Job Description
Amazon is hiring Software Development Engineer (SDE) I Interns for the 2027 graduating batch. This 6-month, full-time, in-person internship, with start dates between January and June 2027, offers students the opportunity to work alongside experienced SDEs. Interns will contribute to real projects involving distributed systems, data mining, automation, optimization, scalability, storage, indexing, query systems, and security, gaining practical software-engineering experience on projects that matter to customers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaboration: Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazon teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
- Design & Build: Design and build technologies in a large distributed computing environment; Create solutions for running predictions on distributed systems at large scale and speed; Build distributed storage, indexing, and query systems that are scalable and fault-tolerant.
- Software Development: Design and code solutions starting from broadly defined problems; Work in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Expected year of graduation: 2027.
Experience: Internship / Student Internship (0-1 Year). Full-time for 24–26 consecutive weeks.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals: Object-oriented design, Operating systems, Algorithms, Data structures, Complexity analysis
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl
- Comfortable solving programming problems involving: Arrays, strings, Linked lists, Stacks, queues, Hash tables, Trees, binary search trees, Heaps, priority queues, Graphs, Sorting, searching, Recursion, dynamic programming
- Understanding of algorithmic complexity (time and space)
- Object-oriented design concepts: Classes, objects, Encapsulation, Inheritance, Polymorphism, Abstraction, Composition
