Job Description
Amazon is hiring Software Development Engineer (SDE) I Interns for the 2027 graduating batch. Candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field can apply for this internship opportunity. This is a 6-month, full-time, in-person internship with internship opportunities across Amazon locations in India. Interns will work alongside experienced Software Development Engineers and contribute to real projects involving distributed systems, data mining, automation, optimization, scalability, storage, indexing, query systems, and security.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Product Development: Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazon teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
- System Design & Implementation: Design and build technologies in a large distributed computing environment.
- Scalable Solutions: Create solutions for running predictions on distributed systems at large scale and speed.
- Distributed Storage & Query Systems: Build distributed storage, indexing, and query systems that are scalable and fault-tolerant.
- Problem Solving: Design and code solutions starting from broadly defined problems.
- Agile Development: Work in an Agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Expected year of graduation: 2027.
Experience: Internship is full-time for 24–26 consecutive weeks. Must be available for the entire internship duration.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals: Object-oriented design, Operating systems, Algorithms, Data structures, Complexity analysis.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language: C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.
Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving skills in data structures and algorithms (Arrays, strings, Linked lists, Stacks and queues, Hash tables, Trees, Binary search trees, Heaps, Priority queues, Graphs, Sorting, Searching, Recursion, Dynamic programming).
- Understanding of algorithmic time and space complexity.
- Object-oriented design principles (Classes, objects, Encapsulation, Inheritance, Polymorphism, Abstraction, Composition).
- Operating systems concepts (Processes, Threads, CPU scheduling, Memory management, Virtual memory, File systems, Concurrency, Synchronization).
- Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts (Horizontal scaling, Replication, Partitioning, Fault tolerance, Latency, Availability, Consistency, Distributed communication).
- Understanding of distributed storage concepts (Replication, partitioning, failure recovery, data durability, and availability).
- Index and Query Systems.
