Job Description
Apple Recruitment 2026 is hiring for the position of Junior Application Support & Site Reliability Engineer in Bengaluru, Karnataka. This opportunity is suitable for candidates with 1–2 years of experience in Application Production Support, DevOps, Systems Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering. The role is part of Apple's Sales Engineering, IS&T organization and focuses on keeping mission-critical applications and services reliable, available and performant across multiple environments. The position combines Linux, Java, Python, databases, observability, incident management, automation, CI/CD and SRE practices. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field. Exposure to GenAI, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms and Infrastructure as Code can further support the requirements of the position.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitoring: Monitor the health, performance and capacity of mission-critical applications and services.
- Operations Support: Support multi-region application and service operations.
- Incident Response: Act as a first-line responder to production alerts, outages and system anomalies.
- On-call: Participate in on-call rotations and rapid-response workflows.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate application, system, network and performance issues through to resolution.
- Database Management: Perform database troubleshooting, query analysis, data verification and performance tuning.
- Root-Cause Analysis: Partner with development, QA, database and infrastructure teams for root-cause analysis, identifying underlying causes and supporting permanent remediation of recurring problems.
- Observability Tools: Build and refine dashboards, log aggregation and alerting rules using observability tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana and Dynatrace.
- SRE Metrics: Track service reliability metrics such as SLIs and SLOs.
- Automation: Develop Python and Bash scripts to automate repetitive operational tasks and health checks.
- Deployment Support: Support production deployments and CI/CD pipeline runs, including build validation using Maven and Gradle.
- Testing: Perform canary and smoke testing where required.
- Change Management: Execute production change requests according to change management standards.
- Efficiency Improvement: Use modern engineering practices and GenAI-assisted workflows to improve operational efficiency.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
Experience: 1–2 years of combined work experience in Application Production Support, DevOps, Systems Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Understanding of filesystems, process management, networking, permissions and systemd (Linux/Unix).
- Knowledge of servers, services and resource management (System Engineering).
- Programming and debugging experience with Java and Python.
- Familiarity with Maven and Gradle (Build Tools).
- Strong troubleshooting and querying skills with PostgreSQL, Oracle DB and MySQL (Databases).
- Exposure to Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus or Dynatrace (Observability).
- Experience with incident triage and production issue handling (Incident Management).
- Basic knowledge of Jenkins, GitHub Actions and continuous deployment concepts (CI/CD).
- Exposure to AI models and AI-assisted development or support workflows (GenAI).
Competencies:
- Exposure to AI-Assisted Operations (using GenAI tools for log analysis, script generation and issue investigation).
- Docker and foundational Kubernetes knowledge.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Basic knowledge of Ansible or Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems, programming and debugging, relational databases, monitoring and incident management.
