Apple is hiring for the position of Web Accessibility Engineer in Hyderabad. Candidates with a B.E/B.Tech or equivalent practical experience and 0–2 years of relevant experience can apply. The role focuses on evaluating web applications for accessibility, identifying barriers for users of assistive technologies, and contributing accessible code fixes using modern web technologies. Candidates will work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WCAG 2.x, and WAI-ARIA, testing web experiences using assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA. Engineers will document accessibility findings, provide actionable recommendations, and support remediation efforts using established testing methodologies, also engaging in cross-functional collaboration.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Accessibility Evaluation: Evaluate web applications for accessibility, identifying barriers for users of assistive technologies.
- Code Contribution: Contribute accessible code fixes using modern web technologies.
- Testing: Test web experiences using assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, JAWS, and NVDA.
- Documentation: Document accessibility findings and provide actionable recommendations.
- Remediation Support: Support remediation efforts using established testing methodologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, design, and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle to ensure accessibility and inclusive experiences are considered.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in web accessibility and frontend engineering.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- HTML (foundational knowledge of semantic HTML)
- CSS (understanding of layout, visibility, focus presentation, contrast, responsive behavior)
- JavaScript (knowledge for interactive components)
- WCAG 2.x guidelines
- WAI-ARIA specifications
- Experience testing with assistive technologies (VoiceOver, JAWS, NVDA)
- Ability to identify and contribute accessible code fixes using web technologies
