Job Description
S&P Global is hiring for the position of Apprentice, Data Operations in Ahmedabad. Fresh graduates with a BBA/BMS/BCom background from the 2026 batch and candidates with a PGDM/MBA in Finance from the 2026 or 2027 batch can apply for this opportunity. The role focuses on financial data collection, analysis, extraction, data entry, workflow management, quality control, and financial research. This is a 12-month apprenticeship program designed to provide fresh graduates and postgraduates with on-the-job experience, industry exposure, networking opportunities, and structured learning. Candidates must be comfortable working in a 24x5 business environment with rotational shifts, including night shifts.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Financial Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze financial data for the assigned business vertical, understanding datasets and following applicable workflows and data-processing requirements.
- Corporate Finance and Accountancy: Apply a strong understanding of corporate finance and accountancy, including income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, profitability measures, and annual reports.
- Financial Statements and Annual Reports: Be familiar with financial statements and annual reports, comfortably locating relevant information, interpreting basic financial data, and distinguishing between different sections.
- Data Extraction and Data Entry: Perform data extraction and data entry according to established guidelines, with careful attention to detail and information validation.
- Data Quality: Produce accurate outputs while meeting predefined quality standards and workflow requirements, utilizing practices like source verification, consistency checks, and cross-checking calculations.
- Work Tools and Workflow Knowledge: Understand assigned datasets, workflows, and work tools, learn internal processes quickly, and consistently follow prescribed methods for completing assignments.
- MS Office Skills: Apply proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas, conditional logic, lookup functions, pivot tables, data formatting, basic charts), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Quantitative and Analytical Skills: Analyze numerical information, identify inconsistencies, interpret business data, and draw conclusions from available evidence.
- Meeting Individual and Team Targets: Balance productivity with accuracy, organize workload, prioritize assignments, and maintain quality under deadlines to meet predefined individual and team targets.
- Problem Solving and Process Improvement: Troubleshoot problems, identify recurring issues, understand their causes, and suggest practical improvements to workflows and processes.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Fresh graduates with BBA/BMS/BCom background from the 2026 batch, or PGDM/MBA in Finance from the 2026 or 2027 batch.
Experience: Freshers.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of corporate finance and accountancy
- Understanding of financial statements and annual reports
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
