This role involves designing, creating, and maintaining high-quality cloud-based applications to support S&P Global’s Markit Intelligence business growth. The Role:
As an Associate Software Engineer, you will design, create and maintain high-quality cloud-based applications to help S&P Global’s Markit Intelligence business grow. You will be working with a team of experienced application/web developers (in multiple global locations), business analysts and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Be an active player in system architecture and design discussions.
- Have a passion for technology and offer new ideas and approaches.
- Recommend product, process, and tooling improvements.
- Analyse business requirements, design, implement and test features.
- Understand non-functional requirements like performance, scalability etc., of the application.
- Be delivery-focused and participate in agile product development through all SDLC phases.
- Build high-quality, reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Work closely with QA and Business teams and highlight issues and risks proactively.
- Embrace quality standards including code conventions, code reviews, unit testing, static analysis, and revision control.
- Coordinate with QA/QC staff for product functional and system testing.
- Maintain and support all areas of the application.
- Work individually as well as in teams across geographies.
Business Competencies:
- 1 to 5 years of development experience using Java related technologies, preferably in financial domain.
- Strong fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
- Strong knowledge of OOP principles, including design patterns.
- Experience in using and understanding SpringBoot, relational databases etc.
- Work effectively with a team in multiple locations around the world.
- Other helpful experience and skills: Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS), front-end technologies (ReactJs, AngularJS), experience building or working with APIs and services using REST, JSON, etc., experience with automation technologies (Maven, CICD pipeline, Gitlab/Github).
