Job Description

For the Barclays Recruitment 2026 drive, the team is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to spearhead the evolution of the digital landscape. You will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of location strategy projects to plan, budget, and agreed quality standards. You will design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience. The role requires a strong grasp of both Manual Testing concepts and Automation Frameworks to ensure the reliability of critical banking software.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Test Planning: Developing and implementing comprehensive test plans and strategies to validate software functionality.
  • Automation Scripting: Creating and executing automated test scripts using frameworks and tools to facilitate early defect detection.
  • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and contribute to acceptance criteria development.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Analyzing identified defects and working closely with developers to support resolution.
  • Code Quality: Participating in code reviews and promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Experience in SDLC, STLC & Functional Testing.
  • Hands-on experience in writing test scenarios and test scripting.
  • Proficiency in Java or Python for automation.
  • Knowledge of Payments Domain (SWIFT, ISO) is a plus.
  • Experience with Automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, Cucumber).
  • Understanding of GIT, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in API Automation and SQL/Linux.

Competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills, communication, and adaptability to Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
