Job Description
Brivo Recruitment 2026 is hiring for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) position in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The role is suitable for early-career candidates with 0–2 years of experience in software testing, test automation or software development. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building and maintaining automated tests rather than performing only manual testing. Candidates will work with Playwright, Robot Framework, Python, REST APIs, Git and CI/CD pipelines to improve regression coverage, investigate test failures and support product quality. The position is full-time and on-site in Bengaluru and is particularly suitable for candidates who enjoy coding, debugging, automation and finding problems in software before customers do.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Automated Testing: Write, execute and maintain automated API tests using Playwright and Robot Framework.
- Test Design: Review requirements and user stories, and design and document test cases covering functional and non-functional scenarios.
- Exploratory Testing: Perform manual exploratory testing for features where automation coverage is unavailable.
- Automation Conversion: Convert repeatable manual checks into automated tests.
- Test Failure Triage: Triage failing tests in CI/CD pipelines and differentiate genuine product defects from flaky or environment-related failures.
- Defect Management: Log clear and well-evidenced defects with reproduction steps, logs and screenshots, and track defects through resolution and closure.
- Version Control: Use Git for branching, pull requests and test-code collaboration.
- Test Data & Environment: Contribute to test data setup and environment configuration.
- Automation Utilities: Develop small automation utilities that reduce manual effort.
- Quality Collaboration: Collaborate with developers and product managers on quality risks.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software testing, test automation or software development.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language, with Python preferred.
- Exposure to an automation framework such as PyTest, Playwright or Robot Framework.
- Understanding of REST API concepts including HTTP methods, status codes and JSON.
- Familiarity with Git and basic branching workflows.
- Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals.
- Understanding of CI/CD and investigating failing tests in CI/CD pipelines.
Competencies:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn quickly and work under the guidance of senior engineers.
