Job Description
CGI is conducting an Off Campus Drive 2026 for a Mainframe Apprentice role in Hyderabad, targeting B.E/B.Tech freshers with foundational training in mainframe technologies. Candidates should have basic knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and z/OS concepts. This entry-level position offers practical exposure to mainframe application development, testing, and production support under the guidance of experienced team members. Apprentices will gain experience in mainframe applications, coding, testing, job execution, and troubleshooting. Additionally, exposure to Python, SQL, AI Governance, FastAPI, and Oracle can strengthen a candidate's profile, providing a broader understanding of modern application environments. The salary is "Best in Industry", and applications are due ASAP.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Application Support: Support mainframe application development and maintenance activities under the guidance of senior team members.
- JCL Management: Create, modify, and execute basic JCL jobs and analyze job outputs.
- COBOL Development: Perform basic COBOL coding, testing, and debugging under supervision.
- DB2 Queries: Write and execute basic DB2 SQL queries and support data-related activities.
- Error Analysis: Analyze basic compile errors, JCL errors, job monitoring issues, and abends with guidance.
- Process Adherence: Follow established coding, testing, documentation, and change-management processes.
- Learning and Adaptation: Learn and adapt to the organization's mainframe applications, tools, and business processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior developers and support teams.
- Task Ownership: Progressively take ownership of assigned technical tasks.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: B.E/B.Tech. Must have completed foundational or relevant training in mainframe technologies.
Experience: Freshers.

- COBOL (basic programming and debugging concepts)
- JCL (creating, modifying, executing basic jobs)
- DB2 (basic SQL queries and database activities)
