Job Description
The KYC Operations Analyst 1 is an entry-level operations and compliance position at Citigroup, focused on supporting Citi's Know Your Customer program. The role involves creating and reviewing KYC records, researching information from various internal and external sources, validating company and ownership details, identifying discrepancies, and escalating high-risk or negative-news cases. This position ensures information is complete, accurate, properly documented, and processed according to applicable policies and regulatory requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
- KYC Record Management: Create and complete KYC records using information collected from internal and external sources within agreed deadlines.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Interact proactively with relationship management and compliance teams.
- System Maintenance: Update KYC systems with relevant information until final approval. Maintain the KYC workflow tool accurately, reporting workflow progress and keeping mandatory fields, statuses, and comments up to date.
- Information Research: Research company information using internal and external sources, including company/regulatory websites, Dun & Bradstreet, and Google.
- Information Validation: Validate information contained within KYC records and CIP documents. Verify company/entity formation documents, review ownership and management information.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure KYC records comply with local regulatory requirements and global standards. Take ownership of KYC records from initiation through approval.
- Target Achievement: Meet agreed daily KYC review and completion targets. Update workflow databases throughout the day.
- Discrepancy & Escalation: Highlight discrepancies to senior case managers and control teams. Escalate negative news and high-risk cases to the relevant teams.
- Project Support: Assist with departmental projects when required.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in banking, finance, law, compliance, AML/KYC, or related areas is preferred. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Understanding of the basic purpose of KYC, AML controls, customer identification, beneficial ownership, risk assessment, and compliance procedures
- Research skills for company websites, regulatory websites, firm websites, Dun & Bradstreet, Google
- Attention to detail to identify inconsistencies and missing information
- Analytical thinking to compare information from multiple sources and identify discrepancies
- Organizational skills for managing multiple KYC records, deadlines, and workflow statuses
- Risk awareness for escalating discrepancies, negative-news, or high-risk cases
- Understanding of core AI concepts, machine learning, and generative AI, and ability to identify opportunities for AI in business processes
Competencies:
- Strong communication skills for interacting with relationship management teams, compliance teams, supervisors, and other stakeholders
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of European Union regulatory KYC/AML requirements (advantageous)
- Certification: ACAMS certification (advantage but not mandatory)
- Shift Flexibility: Candidates should be flexible according to business timings
