Job Description
The KYC Operations Analyst 1 is an entry-level operations and compliance position at Citigroup. You will be responsible for creating and reviewing KYC records, researching information from internal and external sources, validating company and ownership information, maintaining workflow systems, identifying discrepancies, and escalating high-risk or negative-news cases. The role requires a combination of research skills, attention to detail, documentation skills, analytical thinking, communication skills, risk awareness, and regulatory awareness.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Create KYC records using information collected from internal and external sources.
- Complete KYC records within agreed deadlines.
- Interact proactively with relationship management and compliance teams.
- Update KYC systems with relevant information until final approval.
- Research company information using internal and external sources.
- Review company websites and regulatory websites.
- Research information through sources such as Dun & Bradstreet and Google.
- Validate information contained within KYC records and CIP documents.
- Verify company/entity formation documents.
- Review ownership and management information.
- Ensure KYC records comply with local regulatory requirements and global standards.
- Take ownership of KYC records from initiation through approval.
- Maintain the KYC workflow tool accurately.
- Report workflow progress to supervisors.
- Keep mandatory fields, statuses, and comments up to date.
- Meet agreed daily KYC review and completion targets.
- Update workflow databases throughout the day.
- Highlight discrepancies to senior case managers and control teams.
- Escalate negative news and high-risk cases to the relevant teams.
- Assist with departmental projects when required.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in banking, finance, law, compliance, AML/KYC, or related areas is preferred. Fresh Graduates are welcome to apply.

- KYC and AML Awareness: Understanding the basic purpose of KYC, AML controls, customer identification, beneficial ownership, risk assessment, and compliance procedures is useful.
- Attention to Detail: KYC records contain important customer and entity information. Candidates must be able to identify inconsistencies and missing information.
- Communication: The analyst will interact with relationship management teams, compliance teams, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Analytical Thinking: Candidates should be able to compare information from multiple sources and identify discrepancies or unusual information.
- Organization: The role involves managing multiple KYC records, deadlines, workflow statuses, and documentation.
- Risk Awareness: Candidates should understand when a discrepancy, negative-news finding, or high-risk case needs to be escalated.
- AI Awareness: Understanding of core AI concepts, machine learning, and generative AI and the ability to identify opportunities where AI can improve business processes.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of European Union regulatory KYC/AML requirements is advantageous.
- Certification: ACAMS certification is an advantage but is not stated as mandatory.
