Job Description
Google is offering its first Data Center Intern program in India, providing students with hands-on exposure to the physical infrastructure that supports Google's large-scale technology platforms. Interns will work within Google's Data Center Engineering and Hardware Operations environment, contributing to server and network infrastructure, equipment deployments, repairs, upgrades, decommissioning, cabling, Linux troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance. The 12-week, full-time internship is intended for candidates with an anticipated 2028 graduation date, allowing them to gain practical experience alongside experienced professionals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Work on server and network infrastructure, equipment deployments, repairs, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Cabling & Installation: Perform data center cabling tasks.
- System Operations: Engage in Linux troubleshooting and infrastructure maintenance.
- Hardware Operations: Support the monitoring, maintaining, and deploying of physical infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose problems with servers and other infrastructure, including network issues.
- Reporting: Conduct machine failure analysis and bug reporting.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams and work effectively in a remote team setting (where applicable).
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or higher education in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical discipline. Anticipated graduation date of 2028.
Experience: Experience with installing a network or Linux systems.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Practical knowledge of Linux and networking.
- Experience with Linux installation, systems administration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair.
- Understanding of networking topology and protocols, including IP addresses, Subnetting basics, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Switches, routers, Ports, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with common server components (CPU, RAM, Storage, Motherboards, Network interface cards, Power supplies, Cooling systems, Peripheral interfaces).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- English proficiency.
- Willingness to relocate to Delhi or Mumbai.
