Job Description
As a Designer, Development – Mechanical at Husky Technologies, you will work as part of a team responsible for developing new products and mechanical systems. The role covers conceptual design, detailed 3D modeling, component selection, engineering analysis, drawings, validation, and design optimization. You will collaborate with specialists across engineering, manufacturing, software, electrical, and validation functions to develop reliable and manufacturable solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with Engineers and Design Specialists in the development of new products.
- Participate in all stages of the formal product development process.
- Apply engineering principles to the design of machines.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design using 3D modelling of parts and assemblies.
- Optimize designs based on manufacturing processes, assembly and testing requirements.
- Size and select components including motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
- Select appropriate materials and apply relevant design standards.
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis including structural FEA, thermal analysis, dynamics and tolerance stack-up.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for team members and management.
- Support validation of new designs through test stand development, test planning and analysis of test results.
- Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
- Support design risk mitigation activities including FMEA.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing and Validation/Test teams.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles.
- Knowledge of Unigraphics or other 3D CAD software is an advantage.
- Strong interest in mechanical design and hands-on mechanical aptitude.
