Job Description
Husky Technologies is hiring for the role of Designer, Development – Mechanical in Chennai. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering are eligible to apply. This role offers an opportunity to work with Engineers and Design Specialists in the development of new products. You will participate in all stages of the formal product development process, applying engineering principles to machine design. The role covers conceptual design, detailed 3D modeling, component selection, engineering analysis, drawings, validation, and design optimization, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Product Development: Work with Engineers and Design Specialists in the development of new products; Participate in all stages of the formal product development process.
- Design & Modelling: Apply engineering principles to the design of machines; Perform conceptual and detailed design using 3D modelling of parts and assemblies.
- Optimization: Optimize designs based on manufacturing processes, assembly and testing requirements.
- Component Selection: Size and select components including motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic components; Select appropriate materials and apply relevant design standards.
- Analysis: Perform engineering calculations and analysis including structural FEA, thermal analysis, dynamics and tolerance stack-up.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles; Prepare technical reports and presentations for team members and management.
- Validation: Support validation of new designs through test stand development, test planning and analysis of test results.
- Reviews & Mitigation: Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions; Support design risk mitigation activities including FMEA.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing and Validation/Test teams.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles.
- Knowledge of Unigraphics or other 3D CAD software is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Strong interest in mechanical design and hands-on mechanical aptitude.
