Job Description
As a Software Engineer at GE Vernova, you will be responsible for programming a component, feature, or feature set. You will work independently while contributing to your immediate team and other cross-business teams. Your responsibilities include collaborating with system engineers, frontend developers, and software developers to implement solutions that align with and extend shared platforms. You will apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, and refactoring, while understanding performance parameters and assessing application performance. You will also work on core data structures and algorithms, implementing them using the language of choice, and contribute actively to design discussions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborating with system engineers, frontend developers, and software developers to implement solutions that align with and extend shared platforms.
- Applying principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, and refactoring.
- Writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
- Understanding performance parameters and assessing application performance.
- Working on core data structures and algorithms, implementing them using the language of choice.
- Contributing actively to design discussions.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with basic experience.
Experience: 0 – 2 Years (Note for US roles: Minimum 2 years of experience required).
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Experience working with GoLang.
- Solid knowledge of Distributed System Concepts.
- Working experience on AWS (EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, Lambda, ECS).
- Working experience with Kubernetes.
Competencies:
- Prior work experience in an agile environment, or introductory training on Lean/Agile and Continuous Integration (CI).
- General understanding of the impacts of technology choice on the software development life cycle.
- Ability to break down problems, estimate time for development tasks, and seek to understand problems thoroughly before implementing solutions.
- Understands the technology landscape, stays up to date on current technology trends, and brings new ideas to the team.
- Displays understanding of the project’s value proposition for the customer.
- Voices opinions clearly, uses data to influence, and takes independent responsibility for assigned deliverables.
- Adapts quickly to new environments and changing requirements.
