Job Description
Google is launching its first Data Center Intern program in India for students graduating in 2028, offering a 12-week, full-time internship starting in summer 2027. This program provides practical exposure to Google's Data Center Engineering and Hardware Operations, where interns will work on server and network infrastructure, equipment deployments, repairs, upgrades, decommissioning, cabling, Linux troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance. Candidates should have experience with network or Linux system installation, and proficiency in English is required.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Work on server and network infrastructure, equipment deployments, repairs, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Technical Operations: Handle cabling, Linux troubleshooting, and infrastructure maintenance.
- System Operations: Monitor, maintain, and deploy physical infrastructure.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams and work alongside experienced professionals.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently enrolled in a Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or higher education in Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical discipline. Anticipated graduation date of 2028.
Experience: Experience with installing a network or Linux systems. Willingness to relocate to Delhi or Mumbai. Ability to remain in India for the full internship duration.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Linux (installation, filesystem structure, users/permissions, processes/services, networking commands, package management, system logs, basic shell commands, troubleshooting)
- Networking Fundamentals (IP addresses, Subnetting basics, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Switches, routers, Ports, Ethernet, Basic network troubleshooting)
- Hardware Architecture (CPU, RAM, Storage, Motherboards, Network interface cards, Power supplies, Cooling systems, Peripheral interfaces)
- Hardware Maintenance and Repair
- System Administration (users, groups, permissions, services, processes, storage, logs, networking configuration, system monitoring)
- Knowledge of networking topology and protocols
