Job Description
Google is offering the Application Engineering Intern, Summer 2027 opportunity in Bangalore for students graduating in 2028. This internship provides practical experience in developing, deploying, integrating, and supporting internal business applications at Google. It targets students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field, requiring experience with at least one general-purpose programming language and fluent English communication. The 10-12 week full-time internship runs during Summer 2027 (May/June onwards). Interns will work on internal business applications, including custom web/mobile front ends, backend services, automation, third-party software integration, and system troubleshooting. The role offers exposure to technical design, solution development, systems configuration, testing, and writing clean, modular code. Preferred technical experience includes Java, Python, C++, SQL, Spring, API development, RESTful/SOAP web services, JavaScript, and TypeScript. Applications are due by 15 September 2026.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Build Internal Solutions: Build internal solutions with custom front-end interfaces (web or mobile applications) and backend services that automate business processes.
- Follow Software Engineering Practices: Engage in technical design, solution development, systems configuration, test documentation and execution, issue identification, issue resolution, and writing clean, modular, self-sustaining code.
- Troubleshoot Internal Problems: Help internal partners with day-to-day challenges by delivering scalable solutions and troubleshooting existing problems.
- Understand Business Workflows: Understand operational workflows and identify the tools needed to improve efficiency and enable processes to scale.
- Drive Development and Deployment: Contribute to the initial and ongoing development and deployment of internal tools in collaboration with Engineering teams.
- Translate Business Requirements: Translate business requirements into technical solutions and contribute to their development and deployment.
- Integrate Third-Party Products: Work with existing enterprise software from third-party vendors, configuring, customizing, and integrating it with Google's internal systems, and supporting or upgrading the implementation.
- Improve Internal Processes: Develop custom software, front-end interfaces, backend services, APIs, and automation workflows to improve internal processes.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date in 2028.
Experience: Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Fluent English communication for technical discussions
