Job Description

This entry-level opportunity is for a Graduate Engineer Trainee – Firmware Quality Assurance in Gurugram, for engineers interested in embedded systems, robotics, firmware testing, and quality engineering. The role involves validating embedded firmware used in robotic systems, including robots, controllers, sensors, and VDA systems. The selected candidate will work closely with Firmware, Electronics, Software, Product Engineering, and Quality teams to identify defects, reproduce issues, validate fixes, and improve firmware quality before Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer deployment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Firmware Validation: Test and validate embedded firmware releases before FAT and site deployment; perform firmware-level checks on robots, controllers, sensors and VDA systems.
  • Defect Management: Identify firmware defects and reproduce reported issues; provide clear debugging information to the Firmware team; validate bug fixes and perform regression testing.
  • Review & Debugging: Review firmware release and change logs and ensure appropriate testing; debug firmware issues using logs, diagnostic tools and communication interfaces; troubleshoot communication protocols (CAN, UART, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
  • System Understanding: Understand communication between controllers, sensors, motor drivers and robotic electronics.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Support root-cause analysis to determine whether issues originate from firmware, electronics, communication or software.
  • Remote Operations: Perform remote debugging and embedded-level checks on robotic and VDA systems.
  • Testing Support: Support Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) and internal robot testing.
  • Test Planning & Tracking: Create firmware test cases, checklists and regression test plans; track firmware defects through closure and verify fixes.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute toward reducing firmware-related defects during FAT; analyze recurring firmware failures and recommend preventive actions.
  • Documentation: Maintain defect trackers, test results, logs and firmware validation reports.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
