Job Description
Hitachi Recruitment 2026 is hiring for the position of Associate Project Engineer in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The opportunity is open to freshers and experienced candidates with a B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering discipline. The role is focused on software development engineering within the high-tech domain. The selected candidate can work on different categories of software, including end-user applications and operating system or utility software that provides platforms for running applications. The position includes requirements analysis, software programming, testing, deployment, maintenance and software enhancements. Candidates will also be expected to follow software engineering practices involving coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing and operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Gather and analyze software requirements to understand the domain and required functionality.
- Understand interfaces between hardware and software and overall software characteristics.
- Use programming, scripting and/or database languages to develop software code.
- Support software testing activities.
- Support software deployment and maintenance.
- Correct programming errors and debug software issues.
- Respond to scope changes and implement software enhancements.
- Apply software development best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews.
- Use source control management practices.
- Support build processes, testing and software operations.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering field.
Experience: Freshers and experienced candidates.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Ability to use programming, scripting and/or database languages to develop software code.
- Understanding of fundamental programming concepts (variables, control structures, functions, data structures, debugging, modular development).
- Understanding of software requirements, interfaces between hardware and software, and overall software characteristics.
- Basic understanding of testing concepts, debugging techniques, and validating software.
- Knowledge of source control management practices (e.g., Git).
Competencies:
- Understanding of typical software development lifecycle (SDLC) flow.
- Ability to follow coding standards and participate in code reviews.
