Job Description
Hitachi Recruitment 2026 is hiring for the position of Associate Project Engineer in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The opportunity is open to freshers and experienced candidates with a B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering discipline. The role is focused on software development engineering within the high-tech domain. The selected candidate can work on different categories of software, including end-user applications and operating system or utility software that provides platforms for running applications. The position includes requirements analysis, software programming, testing, deployment, maintenance and software enhancements. Candidates will also be expected to follow software engineering practices involving coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing and operations. The role is categorized as an entry professional position, with work performed under close supervision and involving problems that are generally not described as highly difficult or complex.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Requirements Analysis: Gather and analyze software requirements to understand the domain and required functionality.
- Interface Understanding: Understand interfaces between hardware and software and overall software characteristics.
- Software Development: Use programming, scripting and/or database languages to develop software code.
- Testing Support: Support software testing activities.
- Deployment & Maintenance: Support software deployment and maintenance.
- Debugging & Error Correction: Correct programming errors and debug software issues.
- Enhancement Implementation: Respond to scope changes and implement software enhancements.
- Best Practice Application: Apply software development best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Quality Assurance: Follow coding standards and participate in code reviews.
- Source Control Management: Use source control management practices.
- Build & Operations Support: Support build processes, testing and software operations.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: B.E/B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering field
Experience: Freshers / Experienced candidates
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Programming (at least one programming language well, core programming concepts such as variables, control structures, functions, data structures, debugging and modular development)
- Scripting (Knowledge)
- Database languages (Knowledge)
- Software requirements analysis (Understanding how a software requirement is translated into technical functionality and how requirements can affect application architecture, interfaces and testing)
- Software testing concepts (Basic)
- Debugging techniques
- Software deployment
- Software maintenance
- Source control management (Knowledge of Git is useful for understanding repositories, commits, branches, merging and collaborative development)
- Code reviews (Understanding why code reviews are used to improve code quality, identify defects and maintain development standards)
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts (Understanding the typical flow from requirements and design to implementation, testing, deployment, maintenance and enhancement)
