Job Description
We are looking for a motivated Engineer 1 – Network Support to join our global technical support team in Bangalore. The role involves providing support for enterprise networking and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, primarily based on ClearPass. The engineer will support global customers through phone, email, and chat, assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to network connectivity, authentication, and access control. This is a hybrid working role requiring you to work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for networking and ClearPass-related issues to global customers.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity and authentication issues.
- Access Control: Work on access control problems involving 802.1X, RADIUS, and guest authentication.
- Analysis: Analyse logs, configurations, and basic packet captures for troubleshooting.
- Documentation: Document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in ticketing tools.
- Escalation: Collaborate with senior engineers for escalations and complex cases.
- Compliance: Follow defined processes and SLAs in a 24x7 support environment (requires working in rotational shifts across US/EMEA/APAC time zones).
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (B.E./B.Tech, B.Sc, BCA, B.Com, BBA, BA, etc.).
Experience: Typically, 0-2 years of experience. Candidates with networking training, certifications, internships, or strong technical aptitude will be preferred.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: OSI Model, TCP/IP, IP addressing and subnetting, ARP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and switching basics.
- Routing fundamentals (basic static routing) and broadcast/multicast/unicast traffic.
- Basic understanding of network authentication concepts (AAA, 802.1X, RADIUS), network security, and wireless networking basics.
- Basic Active Directory and LDAP awareness.
- Basic Linux knowledge (Command-line usage, Log navigation).
Competencies:
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- (Preferred) Exposure to Network Access Control (NAC) or ClearPass (internship / project / training).
- (Preferred) Certifications such as CCNA / CWNA / RHCSA or equivalent.
- (Preferred) Basic knowledge of Wireshark or packet capture tools, and scripting exposure (optional).
