Job Description
As a Designer, Development – Mechanical at Husky Technologies, you will work as part of a team responsible for developing new products and mechanical systems. The role covers conceptual design, detailed 3D modelling, component selection, engineering analysis, drawings, validation and design optimization. You will collaborate with specialists across engineering, manufacturing, software, electrical and validation functions to develop reliable and manufacturable solutions. The position provides an opportunity to work on challenging mechanical design problems while gaining experience across the complete product development lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Product Development: Work with Engineers and Design Specialists in the development of new products.
- Process Participation: Participate in all stages of the formal product development process.
- Design Application: Apply engineering principles to the design of machines.
- 3D Modeling: Perform conceptual and detailed design using 3D modelling of parts and assemblies.
- Design Optimization: Optimize designs based on manufacturing processes, assembly and testing requirements.
- Component Selection: Size and select components including motors, sensors, bearings, gearboxes, pneumatic and hydraulic components.
- Material & Standards: Select appropriate materials and apply relevant design standards.
- Engineering Analysis: Perform engineering calculations and analysis including structural FEA, thermal analysis, dynamics and tolerance stack-up.
- Drawing & GD&T: Prepare detailed engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
- Reporting: Prepare technical reports and presentations for team members and management.
- Design Validation: Support validation of new designs through test stand development, test planning and analysis of test results.
- Reviews: Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
- Risk Mitigation: Support design risk mitigation activities including FMEA.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing and Validation/Test teams.

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Excellent understanding of engineering principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Unigraphics or other 3D CAD software is an advantage.
- Strong interest in mechanical design and hands-on mechanical aptitude.
