Job Description
The Associate Data Scientist position focuses on applying data science and artificial intelligence to real business problems. IBM describes the role as involving data preparation, analysis, predictive and prescriptive modeling, statistical methods, machine learning, and communicating analytical results to stakeholders. The role also has a strong practical engineering component because candidates will develop POCs, integrate data, write reusable programs, document technical solutions, and collaborate with engineers and consultants. A distinctive aspect of the role is the use of Generative AI code assistants to refactor, rewrite, and document code between programming languages.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Solution Development: Apply data science and artificial intelligence to real business problems.
- Proof of Concept Development: Develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) for AI solutions and collaborate with development teams to implement and improve them.
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Perform data preparation, analysis, predictive and prescriptive modeling, statistical methods, and machine learning.
- Programming: Write programs to cleanse and integrate data efficiently and in a reusable manner.
- Documentation: Document solution architecture, design decisions, implementation details, and lessons learned; create technical documentation, white papers, and best-practice guides.
- AI Tools: Use Generative AI coding assistants to refactor, rewrite, and document code between programming languages.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers and consultants.
- Communication: Communicate analytical results to stakeholders.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree (Required), Master's Degree (Preferred) in B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech.
Experience: Freshers / Experienced.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or Hugging Face
- Understanding of Scikit-learn, Pandas, Matplotlib, or similar data-science libraries
Competencies:
- Ability to develop Proofs of Concept (POCs) for AI solutions
- Ability to collaborate with development teams to implement and improve POCs
- Experience or interest in using Generative AI coding assistants
- Ability to document solution architecture, design decisions, implementation details, and lessons learned
- Ability to create technical documentation, white papers, and best-practice guides
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferred)
- Working knowledge of COBOL and Java (preferred)
