Job Description
As a Quality Engineer-Automation at IBM, you will specialize in creating automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications. The role goes beyond simply executing automated test cases, requiring you to understand testing requirements, design optimized test scenarios, automate test execution, and help integrate testing into broader software delivery processes. A major focus will be improving the efficiency of testing through automation.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Implementation: Design and implement automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications. Develop automation that streamlines software testing processes.
- Scenario Optimization: Create optimized test scenarios using appropriate test automation tools and technologies. Develop automation for executing software tests with minimal manual intervention.
- Maintenance: Maintain and improve existing automated testing solutions.
- Test Data & Environment: Automate test data management processes to support reliable test execution. Develop automation for test environment setup and management.
- Integration: Integrate testing automation into broader delivery automation workflows.
- Modern Practices: Support software delivery processes using modern Agile and DevOps practices. Work with container-based environments and understand their role in automated testing.
- Efficiency & Collaboration: Improve testing efficiency through optimization and automation. Collaborate with development and delivery teams to integrate quality engineering into the software lifecycle. Minimize manual testing effort through reliable and maintainable automation.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Experience with test automation tools and technologies.
- Ability to build automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications.
- Ability to create optimized test scenarios.
- Experience with automated test data management.
- Experience automating or managing test environments.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies in testing environments.
