Job Description
For the Cadence Internship 2026 program, the CST (Custom Silicon Team) is looking for a motivated intern with a strong foundation in VLSI and Analog Design. You will work with the industry-standard Virtuoso tool suite, gaining exposure to real-world chip design methodologies. The role involves familiarity with analog/digital flows, simulation, layout, and physical verification (DRC/LVS). You will also utilize scripting languages like SKILL, Python, or TCL to automate design tasks in a Linux environment.
Responsibilities
As an Intern – CST at Cadence, your key responsibilities will likely include:
- Tool Utilization: Working with the Cadence Virtuoso tool suite including Schematic, Layout, and Analog Design Environment (ADE).
- Verification: Assisting in physical verification processes such as DRC, LVS, and RC Extraction.
- Automation: Writing scripts in SKILL, Python, or TCL to improve design efficiency.
- Methodology: Applying basic understanding of foundry PDKs (Process Design Kits) and Custom Analog Design Methodology.
- Environment Management: Working within a Linux environment and utilizing grid systems like LSF or Slurm.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Cadence Internship 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics or equivalent.
- Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Working knowledge of Cadence Virtuoso (Schematic, Layout, ADE).
- Familiarity with Analog/Digital flows and simulation.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language: SKILL, Python, Perl, CShell, or TCL.
- Preferred Skills (Strong Plus):
- Basic understanding of Foundry PDKs.
- Exposure to compute-server grid systems (LSF, SGE, Slurm).
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
- Soft Skills: Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
