Job Description
JioStar Recruitment 2026 is hiring for the position of Software Development Engineer I in Bengaluru. The role is part of the Viewer Experience (VX) organization, which works on the user journey across Search, Personalization, Watch Experience, Interactivity and other experiences on the JioHotstar platform. The Software Development Engineer I will work on building high-quality, scalable applications and user-facing features for the JioHotstar website and TV applications. The position focuses strongly on frontend engineering, JavaScript, browser technologies, UI architecture, reusable components and operational excellence. The role is suitable for candidates with 0–2 years of professional frontend development experience and a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Feature Ownership: Own and deliver end-to-end frontend features.
- Application Quality: Build applications with strong performance, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with product stakeholders to deliver new user-facing features on websites and TV applications.
- UI/UX Implementation: Evaluate the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and implement them effectively.
- Component Development: Build reusable code and cross-functional libraries; Contribute to JioStar's internal design system.
- Documentation: Document technical solutions using documentation, DFDs and code comments.
- Code Quality: Write clean, efficient and maintainable code; Follow software engineering best practices; Participate in code reviews and engineering discussions.
- Scalability: Contribute to highly scalable distributed applications and operational excellence.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience: 0–2 years of professional experience as a frontend developer.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript (strong practical knowledge)
- Strong understanding of how modern web browsers work (browser internals, rendering, execution)
- Understanding of software design and architecture patterns
- Knowledge of at least one frontend framework such as React or AngularJS
- Proficiency with Git or other code versioning tools
- Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Grunt or Gulp
- UI/UX Implementation (ability to translate designs into technically feasible frontend implementations)
- Reusable Components (ability to build reusable code and libraries)
Competencies:
- Web Performance (rendering performance, network requests, asset optimization, caching, efficient JavaScript execution)
- Accessibility and Cross-Browser Compatibility (semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, basic accessibility practices)
