Job Description
As a Junior Software Engineer in the FOS products team at Cannon Design, you will report to a Senior Engineer or the Director of Software Engineering. You will contribute directly to building and maintaining scalable cloud-based SaaS solutions. This role is crafted for recent college graduates and early-career software developers who are eager to expand their technical stack, learn industry best practices, and work on real-world web applications alongside cross-functional team members.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc), or equivalent bootcamp / self-taught technical background.
Experience: 0 to 2 years of professional software development experience (includes full-time roles, internships, co-ops, or substantial academic projects).
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Programming Languages: Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as C#, JavaScript / TypeScript, or Python.
- Web Development: Basic understanding of frontend and/or backend web development fundamentals.
- Version Control: Exposure to version control platforms like Git.
- Frameworks (Plus): Awareness or exposure to frameworks such as React, Node.js, or .NET.
- Cloud & DevOps (Plus): Basic awareness of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and introductory knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps concepts.
Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving mindset, curiosity, solid communication skills, and a collaborative team attitude.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Software Development: Write, test, and debug clean, maintainable code for cloud-based SaaS applications under the guidance of senior mentors.
- Maintenance & Fixes: Assist with routine application maintenance, bug resolutions, and small feature rollouts.
- DevOps Integration: Learn and apply Git workflows, CI/CD automated deployment pipelines, and basic DevOps practices.
- Peer Reviews & Documentation: Participate in peer code reviews to adopt software best practices and maintain technical documentation for system features.
- Cross-Functional Work: Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and QA engineers to deliver functional updates.
