Job Description

The KYC Operations Analyst 1 is an entry-level operations and compliance position focused on supporting Citi's Know Your Customer program. Responsibilities include creating and reviewing KYC records, researching information, validating company and ownership details, maintaining workflow systems, and escalating high-risk cases.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Record Creation: Create KYC records using information collected from internal and external sources.
  • Deadline Management: Complete KYC records within agreed deadlines.
  • Interaction: Interact proactively with relationship management and compliance teams.
  • System Updates: Update KYC systems with relevant information until final approval.
  • Research: Research company information using internal and external sources, including company websites, regulatory websites, firm websites, Dun & Bradstreet, and Google.
  • Validation: Validate information contained within KYC records and CIP documents; verify company/entity formation documents and review ownership and management information.
  • Compliance: Ensure KYC records comply with local regulatory requirements and global standards.
  • Ownership: Take ownership of KYC records from initiation through approval.
  • Workflow Management: Maintain the KYC workflow tool accurately and report workflow progress to supervisors.
  • Performance Targets: Meet agreed daily KYC review and completion targets and update workflow databases throughout the day.
  • Escalation: Highlight discrepancies to senior case managers and control teams, and escalate negative news and high-risk cases to the relevant teams.
  • Project Assistance: Assist with departmental projects when required.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree, university degree, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 1–3 years of experience in banking, finance, law, compliance, AML/KYC, or related areas is preferred. Fresh Graduates are welcome.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • KYC and AML Awareness (basic purpose of KYC, AML controls, customer identification, beneficial ownership, risk assessment, compliance procedures)
  • Research Skills (company websites, regulatory websites, firm websites, Dun & Bradstreet, Google)
  • Attention to Detail (identify inconsistencies and missing information)
  • Analytical Thinking (compare information from multiple sources and identify discrepancies)
  • Organization (managing multiple KYC records, deadlines, workflow statuses, documentation)
  • Risk Awareness (understand when discrepancy or high-risk case needs escalation)
  • AI Awareness (understanding of core AI concepts, machine learning, generative AI, identifying AI opportunities)

Competencies:

  • Communication (interact with relationship management, compliance teams, supervisors)
  • Shift Flexibility (according to business timings)
  • ACAMS certification is an advantage
