Job Description
For the Lowe's Recruitment 2026 drive, the team is looking for a Data Engineering Intern to assist with translating business requirements into scalable data and platform solutions. This role spans the entire software development lifecycle, involving implementation, maintenance, and rigorous software testing activities. You will play a hands-on role in building, maintaining, and enhancing data curation pipelines. Additionally, you will work closely with BI Engineering and Platform Engineering teams to administer Hadoop clusters and design hybrid cloud-based data solutions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities: Support the development, configuration, and modification of integrated enterprise applications.
- Core Responsibilities: Assist in Systems Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Data Engineering: Support the build, maintenance, and enhancement of Data Lake environments through continuous learning of ingestion toolsets for DBMS and file system-based data ingestion.
- Data Engineering: Build and optimize data curation pipelines.
- BI Engineering: Build and enhance Business Intelligence (BI) solutions by creating basic reports, metrics, filters, and prompts.
- BI Engineering: Monitor daily jobs, cubes, and the overall health of the platform.
- Platform Engineering: Administer Hadoop clusters in DTQ and Production environments.
- Platform Engineering: Perform application installs, upgrades, cluster maintenance, user provisioning, and troubleshooting of failed jobs.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related field.
Experience: Candidates with 1-5+ years of experience in software development or a related field are welcome (Preferred: 1 year of experience in database technologies, Web Services, and incident tracking software).
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong foundation in Computer Science and software architecture.
- Experience in Hadoop, NO-SQL, RDBMS, Teradata, MicroStrategy, or Cloud Bigdata components.
- Experience with application development tools, integration middleware, and Web Services.
Competencies:
- Demonstrated learning agility, technical troubleshooting, focus on customers, and strong communication skills.
