Job Description
Lumilens is hiring for an early-talent opportunity as a Software Test Automation Engineer, also described as an Optical Product Test Engineer specialising in software automation. The role is designed for 2025 and 2026 graduates from BE, BTech, ME, MTech, or MS Research programs in Electronics, ECE, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related disciplines. This is a specialized engineering role combining software test automation, networking, optical hardware testing, lab instrumentation, and manufacturing test engineering. Engineers will develop Python-based test frameworks and use them to validate real optical hardware and network systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Python Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and execute automated test cases; build reusable frameworks for testing optical products and network systems.
- Functional, Regression and Performance Testing: Conduct functional, regression, and performance testing of Layer 1 and Layer 2 systems.
- Optical Hardware Testing: Validate hardware and software integration with optical interfaces and network switches.
- Manufacturing Test Automation: Support high-volume optical component manufacturing; develop and maintain software for testing manufactured optical components; own manufacturing test scripts.
- Debugging: Debug problems in complex networking environments.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: 2025 or 2026 graduating candidate with BE, BTech, ME, MTech, or MS Research qualification in Electronics, ECE, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
Experience: Early Talent (0-0 years)
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Python for test automation.
- Good understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking protocols.
- Exposure to optical testing, network switches, and traffic generators such as IXIA.
- Experience with or exposure to Jenkins, ArgoCD, or other CI/CD tools.
- Shell scripting knowledge for automation and environment setup.
Competencies:
- Ability to debug problems in complex networking environments.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Additional Skills: C# .NET, object-oriented programming, WinForms or WPF, NI-VISA and SCPI, RS-232 and TCP/IP, Optical oscilloscopes, Optical power meters, Optical switches, SQL or NoSQL databases, GitHub, Bitbucket, or SVN, Optical transceiver knowledge, Silicon photonics exposure.
