Job Description

For the Maersk Recruitment 2026 drive, the technology division is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to help build scalable distributed backend systems. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Software Engineer and Product Team to create world-class software that directly impacts the environmental footprint of global shipping. Operating within a dedicated agile scrum team, you will independently direct your time and resources alongside other engineers, focusing your coding skills on building robust features, exploring optimized problem-solving methods, and contributing heavily to cloud-native deployments.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Software Development: Work in collaboration with the Lead Software Engineer to design, code, and create world-class backend software features.
  • System Architecture: Build scalable, distributed backend systems and microservices utilizing clean architecture and modern scalable design patterns.
  • Agile Collaboration: Operate seamlessly within a scrum team alongside a dedicated platform product owner, independently managing your tasks while acting as a strong team player.
  • Innovation & Optimization: Focus your coding skills on building features and proactively exploring new, highly optimized ways to solve complex tasks.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree (B.E/B.Tech) in a relevant technical discipline.

Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally building distributed backend systems or large-scale production services.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Advanced coding skills with hands-on experience in Node.js, Python, or Salesforce .
  • Experience with microservices architecture and event-streaming technologies like Kafka .
  • Practical experience working with modern data platforms and data-intensive systems.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization tools ( Docker and Kubernetes ) and deploying in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, AWS ) and automated testing.

Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a capacity to analyze complex challenges.
  • A strong ownership mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional engineering setup.
