Job Description
For the Microsoft Internship 2026, the team is looking for a Security Assurance Intern to analyze threat trends and anomalies to determine operational impact. You will learn about systemic security issues and how to address them through policy, threat modeling, and assurance program design. The role involves understanding common deployment scenarios, dependencies, and data flows. You will identify security defects, escalate issues as needed, and work with partners to isolate and solve identified security problems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Threat Analysis: Analyzing threat trends and anomalies to determine operational impact and identifying mitigation strategies.
- Vulnerability Management: Identifying security defects or vulnerabilities and escalating them to relevant parties.
- Customer Response: Addressing security issues with customers/partners in a timely manner and coordinating responses.
- Reporting: Contributing to analysis reports and communicating findings/recommendations to decision-makers.
- Planning: Scheduling security analysis including scope and priorities, and adjusting plans based on findings.
- Collaboration: Partnering across security disciplines to address systemic issues.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related fields. Academic Requirement: Must have at least one semester/term of school remaining following the completion of the internship.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Understanding of Cybersecurity concepts and Threat Modeling.
- Ability to analyze data flows and deployment scenarios.
Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to complete the internship duration (typically summer).
