Job Description

For the Microsoft Recruitment 2026 drive, the team is looking for a Software Engineer to help drive meaningful improvements across Microsoft Azure. You will participate in the development of design documents, code implementation, and testing for product features. The role involves acting as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor system health and resolve service interruptions. You will work on optimizing compute performance and enabling new capabilities using technologies like Hyper-V, VMWare, and Docker.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Feature Development: Creating and implementing code for products, services, or features, reusing code where applicable.
  • System Design: Supporting the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents.
  • Monitoring (DRI): Monitoring systems for degradation or downtime and following playbooks to restore services.
  • Quality Assurance: Creating articulated plans for testing and assuring the quality of solutions.
  • Collaboration: Working with stakeholders to determine user requirements and driving consistency in operations at scale.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline.

Experience: 1+ year of system/app development experience.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Proven coding experience in languages like Rust, C++, C, C#, or Java.
  • Ability to create componentized and well-architected software.

Competencies:

  • Experience with Hyper-V, VMWare, Docker, or other virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with improving service operations or engineering fundamentals.
  • Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
