Job Description

Microsoft is hiring Software Engineers in Hyderabad for the 2026 recruitment drive. This role focuses on building the next generation of Windows device optimizations. Engineers will analyze telemetry and trace data, investigate software and hardware interactions, assess system performance, and develop/test code to improve the Windows ecosystem. The position is ideal for early-career engineers with strong programming, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills, with relevant experience from coursework, internships, or projects. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Windows Device Optimization: Contribute to improving the fundamental experience of Windows devices by investigating interactions between hardware, firmware, operating systems, drivers, and applications.
  • Telemetry and Trace Data Analysis: Analyze telemetry and trace data to identify patterns, investigate failures, understand performance bottlenecks, and validate improvements.
  • Debugging and Performance Analysis: Investigate system issues using debugging and performance-analysis tools, following a structured debugging process: Reproduce → Collect Evidence → Isolate the Cause → Implement Fix → Validate → Monitor.
  • Software and Hardware Interaction: Understand interactions between hardware, firmware, operating systems, and applications, including operating systems, processes/threads, memory management, CPU/power behavior, drivers, and application/system interaction.
  • Programming Skills: Develop and test code with proven coding experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Software Engineering Fundamentals: Apply core engineering practices including testing, code quality, maintainability, modular design, version control, code reviews, error handling, and automated testing.
  • Data Analysis and Statistics: Interpret large volumes of performance information using data analysis, statistics, and cloud data platforms, and determine the meaningfulness of observed changes.
  • Optimization: Identify and contribute to optimization opportunities, focusing on improving application performance, reducing resource usage, enhancing responsiveness, and reducing power consumption.
  • Testing and Code Reviews: Ensure reliable solutions through sound engineering practices, incorporating feedback from code and design reviews.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Experience: Freshers/Experienced (Software development, debugging, or systems-analysis experience through coursework, internships, projects, or professional work preferred).
