Job Description

Microsoft is hiring for the position of Software Engineer in Hyderabad. Candidates with a B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA qualification or equivalent experience can apply for this opportunity. The role is focused on building the next generation of Windows device optimizations. Engineers will work with telemetry and trace data, investigate software and hardware behavior, analyze system performance, develop and test code, and contribute to improvements across the Windows ecosystem. The position is suitable for early-career engineers with strong programming, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills. Experience through coursework, internships, projects, or professional work can be relevant for the role.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Device Optimization: Contribute to Microsoft's work on the next generation of Windows device optimization, improving the fundamental experience of Windows devices.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze telemetry and trace data to identify patterns, investigate failures, understand performance bottlenecks, and validate improvements.
  • Debugging: Investigate system issues using debugging and performance-analysis tools.
  • Code Development: Develop and test code, contributing to improvements across the Windows ecosystem.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Experience: Proven coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered. Software development, debugging, or systems-analysis experience through coursework, internships, projects, or professional work (preferred).

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Proven coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements; successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Competencies:

  • Familiarity with debugging techniques.
  • Interest in system performance and optimization.
  • Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, code quality, and maintainability.
  • Strong programming, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Ability to use data to support engineering decisions.
  • Exposure to operating systems or system-level development.
  • Familiarity with Windows internals, performance analysis, or power optimization.
  • Interest in understanding interactions between hardware, firmware, operating systems, and applications.
  • Exposure to telemetry, statistics, data analysis, or cloud data platforms.
  • Experience collaborating on team projects and communicating technical ideas clearly.
