Job Description

The Apprentice, Full Stack Engineer role is designed for early-career developers who want practical exposure to both frontend and backend software development. Selected candidates will work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to real product features. The role covers the two major sides of a web application: a frontend built using technologies such as React.js and a backend based on Java and Spring Boot. This makes the position suitable for candidates who want to move beyond classroom-based programming and gain experience working with modern software engineering practices in a professional development team.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Development & Maintenance: Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications.
• Frontend Development: Work with React.js on the frontend.
• Backend Development: Work with Java on the backend.
• Code Quality: Write clean, readable, and maintainable code using TypeScript and/or JavaScript. Contribute to improvements in code quality.
• Feature Implementation: Collaborate with senior engineers to implement new features.
• Feature Improvement: Improve existing application features and functionality.
• API Integration: Integrate and consume REST APIs across frontend and backend layers.
• Code Review: Participate in code reviews.
• Agile Practices: Attend daily stand-ups and sprint planning sessions. Work as part of an Agile development team.
• Troubleshooting: Debug and troubleshoot issues across the full application stack.
• Testing: Write basic unit tests.
• Standards Adherence: Follow team engineering standards and coding practices.
• Documentation: Maintain technical documentation.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree, either pursuing or completed, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 0–2 years of experience.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

• Basic hands-on experience or strong academic exposure to React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Foundational understanding of frontend concepts including components, state management, and responsive UI.
• Familiarity with at least one backend technology, particularly Java or Spring Boot.
• Understanding of REST APIs and frontend-backend communication.
• Basic knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.

Competencies:

• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and work collaboratively.
• Exposure to relational or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB (Preferred).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (Preferred).
• Basic understanding of microservices architecture (Preferred).
• Basic knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker (Preferred).
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines (Preferred).
• Understanding of Agile development practices (Preferred).
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor (Preferred).
