Job Description

The Graduate Engineer Trainee (NOC) role is designed for engineers at the beginning of their careers who want practical experience in network operations, infrastructure monitoring, cloud services, and automation. The role has two major dimensions. The first is Network Operations. This includes monitoring enterprise networks, responding to alerts, troubleshooting connectivity problems, handling incidents, escalating issues, and supporting network changes. The second is DevOps and Automation. Engineers will use scripts and automation tools to reduce manual work, support monitoring workflows, contribute to CI/CD processes, and build a foundation in Infrastructure as Code. This combination makes the opportunity broader than a conventional entry-level NOC position.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Automation Support: Assist with automating monitoring and operational workflows using scripting.
• Script Development: Develop basic Python and PowerShell scripts to reduce manual operational effort.
• CI/CD Support: Support infrastructure and network change monitoring within CI/CD workflows.
• Monitoring Tools: Work with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana.
• Infrastructure Improvement: Contribute to infrastructure improvements through automation and orchestration.
• Automation Initiatives: Support automation initiatives and process optimization efforts.
• IaC Knowledge: Build foundational knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Network Monitoring: Monitor networks, systems, and infrastructure in a 24×7 NOC environment.
• Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, firewall, and cloud infrastructure.
• Incident Response: Detect and respond to alerts, incidents, and outages according to defined SLAs.
• Troubleshooting: Perform first-level troubleshooting across routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls, and circuits.
• Incident Management: Log, track, and manage incidents using ticketing systems such as JIRA and ServiceNow.
• SOP Adherence: Follow established standard operating procedures for troubleshooting and escalation.
• Escalation: Escalate complex incidents to L2/L3 teams when required.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with Network, Security, Application, and Cloud teams.
• Vendor Coordination: Work with vendors and Internet Service Providers during issue resolution.
• Maintenance: Perform configuration backups, patching, upgrades, and system health checks.
• Change Management: Support network change implementation and validation activities.
• Documentation: Maintain incident records, root-cause analysis documentation, and network artifacts.
• Reporting: Prepare reports on uptime, alerts, and infrastructure performance trends.
• Knowledge Base: Update SOPs, runbooks, and internal knowledge-base documentation.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or equivalent.

Experience: 0–2 years of experience. Freshers with relevant certifications can be considered.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

• Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting.
• Awareness of Ansible, Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD concepts.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP fundamentals.
• Basic working knowledge of Linux and Windows.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, CSV, and JSON.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Basic understanding of firewalls and network security.
• Familiarity with WAN, VPN, and Internet connectivity.
• Exposure to routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Exposure to LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, ManageEngine, or similar tools.

Competencies:

• Ability to perform initial fault isolation and structured troubleshooting.
• Strong stakeholder coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a 24×7 shift-based NOC environment.
• Strong attention to detail and disciplined technical documentation.
