Job Description

As a Quality Engineer-Automation at IBM, you will specialize in creating automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications. The role goes beyond simply executing automated test cases, requiring you to understand testing requirements, design optimized test scenarios, automate test execution, and help integrate testing into broader software delivery processes. A major focus will be improving the efficiency of testing through automation, including working with test data and test environments. The role also involves exposure to modern engineering practices including Agile, DevOps, and containerization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Automation Solution Design: Design and implement automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications; develop automation that streamlines software testing processes.
  • Test Scenario Creation: Create optimized test scenarios using appropriate test automation tools and technologies; develop automation for executing software tests with minimal manual intervention.
  • Automation Maintenance: Maintain and improve existing automated testing solutions.
  • Data & Environment Automation: Automate test data management processes to support reliable test execution; develop automation for test environment setup and management.
  • Delivery Integration: Integrate testing automation into broader delivery automation workflows; support software delivery processes using modern Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Containerization: Work with container-based environments and understand their role in automated testing.
  • Efficiency Improvement: Improve testing efficiency through optimization and automation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with development and delivery teams to integrate quality engineering into the software lifecycle.
  • Manual Effort Reduction: Minimize manual testing effort through reliable and maintainable automation.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is preferred.

Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Test Automation: Experience with test automation tools and technologies.
  • Automation Development: Ability to build automated testing solutions for IT systems and applications.
  • Test Scenarios: Ability to create optimized automated test scenarios.
  • Test Data: Experience with automated test data management.
