The role focuses on test design, automated testing, software verification, defect reporting, test documentation, Java, Selenium, JUnit, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, and CI/CD. As an Associate Software Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will contribute to different stages of the software development lifecycle, including test design, test automation, software verification, and defect management.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Test Design & Development: Design and maintain software tests throughout the development lifecycle. Develop automated tests for new products and software systems.
- Test Execution & Monitoring: Execute automated test suites and monitor their results.
- Defect Management: Identify, investigate, and report software defects.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain test documentation required by the software development process.
- Verification: Participate in software verification activities.
- Requirements Collaboration: Participate in requirements development and verification activities.
- Estimation & Reporting: Provide work estimates for assigned testing activities. Prepare and communicate project status updates.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with developers, testers, and other engineering teams. Work effectively with large, globally distributed project teams.
- Quality Contribution: Contribute to software quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Engineering Practices: Apply modern engineering practices including CI/CD and automated testing.
- System Support: Support software solutions associated with manufacturing execution and automation systems.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Experience: Approximately 1 year of experience in test automation for new products or software systems.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Java, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Experience with test automation and scripting languages.
- Knowledge of Selenium or Marathon is preferred.
- Familiarity with test management tools such as qTest.
- Knowledge of JUnit.
- Familiarity with GitLab and SVN.
- Understanding of Jenkins and modern continuous integration and delivery practices.
- Familiarity with Maven and ANT.
- Exposure to Eclipse and other common software development tools.
- Familiarity with JIRA.
- Understanding of design patterns used in enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with TDD and BDD.
- Understanding of CI/CD, containerization, virtualization, and rapid prototyping.
- Experience or familiarity with SAFe methodology.
