Job Description
As an Associate Software Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will contribute to different stages of the software development lifecycle, including test design, test automation, software verification, and defect management. The role requires engineers to design and maintain tests, develop automated testing solutions, monitor test results, identify software defects, and document testing activities. Automation is a major component of the position. Candidates should have experience with test automation and scripting, with Marathon or Selenium specifically mentioned as preferred tools. The role also involves working with Java, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, JUnit, GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, and other software development tools.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and maintain: Software tests throughout the development lifecycle.
- Develop automated tests: For new products and software systems.
- Execute automated test suites: And monitor their results.
- Identify, investigate, and report: Software defects.
- Develop and maintain: Test documentation required by the software development process.
- Participate in software verification: Activities.
- Contribute to test design: And automated test system development.
- Participate in requirements development: And verification activities.
- Provide work estimates: For assigned testing activities.
- Prepare and communicate: Project status updates.
- Collaborate with developers: Testers, and other engineering teams.
- Work effectively: With large, globally distributed project teams.
- Contribute to software quality: Throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Apply modern engineering practices: Including CI/CD and automated testing.
- Support software solutions: Associated with manufacturing execution and automation systems.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
Experience: Approximately 1 year of experience in test automation for new products or software systems.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of Java, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Experience with test automation and scripting languages
- Knowledge of Selenium or Marathon is preferred
- Familiarity with test management tools such as qTest
- Knowledge of JUnit
- Familiarity with GitLab and SVN
- Understanding of Jenkins and modern continuous integration and delivery practices
- Familiarity with Maven and ANT
- Exposure to Eclipse and other common software development tools
- Familiarity with JIRA
- Understanding of design patterns used in enterprise applications
- Familiarity with TDD and BDD
- Understanding of CI/CD, containerization, virtualization, and rapid prototyping
- Experience or familiarity with SAFe methodology
