Job Description
Siemens Gamesa is inviting applications for the position of Intern – Software Development and Testing in Bangalore, Karnataka. This internship is suitable for students currently pursuing B.Tech or M.Tech in engineering disciplines such as Control & Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related fields. The internship provides an opportunity to work with engineering teams developing software tools and workflows for advanced wind turbine control technologies. Candidates with knowledge of Python, MATLAB, LaTeX, Object-Oriented Programming, Software Testing, Git, CI/CD and Agile development tools can be a strong fit for this role.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and programming functions in MATLAB and Python for automated reporting and controller validation workflows.
- Support testing and validation of new and existing software tools.
- Help ensure software functionality, reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with engineers to debug software and improve tool performance.
- Support the implementation and improvement of automated build, test and CI/CD procedures.
- Assist in maintaining technical documentation, user guides and development notes.
- Support the creation of data analysis reports and technical presentations.
- Assist with preparation of controller certification documents.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree (B.Tech, preferably in 3rd or 4th year) or Master's degree (M.Tech, preferably in 1st year). Preferred engineering disciplines include Control & Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience: No prior professional work experience is required.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Python Programming
- MATLAB (for automated reporting and controller validation workflows)
- LaTeX (for technical documentation and engineering reports)
- Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Basic understanding of Software Testing
- Git and Version Control (or other distributed version control systems such as Mercurial)
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI/CD) pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins and Artifactory
Competencies:
- Exposure to Agile Tools such as Jira (Beneficial)
- Ability to analyze technical problems and identify practical solutions
- Strong written and spoken communication skills for working with engineering teams
