Job Description

JioStar Recruitment 2026 is hiring for the position of Software Development Engineer I in Bengaluru. The role is part of the Viewer Experience (VX) organization, which works on the user journey across Search, Personalization, Watch Experience, Interactivity and other experiences on the JioHotstar platform. The Software Development Engineer I will work on building high-quality, scalable applications and user-facing features for the JioHotstar website and TV applications. The position focuses strongly on frontend engineering, JavaScript, browser technologies, UI architecture, reusable components and operational excellence. The role is suitable for candidates with 0–2 years of professional frontend development experience and a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Feature Delivery: Own and deliver end-to-end frontend features.
  • Application Development: Build applications with strong performance, accessibility and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with product stakeholders to deliver new user-facing features on websites and TV applications; participate in code reviews and engineering discussions.
  • Design Implementation: Evaluate the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and implement them effectively.
  • Code Quality: Build reusable code and cross-functional libraries; contribute to JioStar's internal design system; document technical solutions; write clean, efficient and maintainable code; follow software engineering best practices.
  • Scalability: Contribute to highly scalable distributed applications and operational excellence.

Skills and Eligibility Criteria

Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience: 0–2 years of professional experience as a frontend developer.

Mandatory Technical Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of JavaScript and frontend programming.
  • Deep understanding of browser behavior and how web applications are rendered and executed (Browser Internals).
  • Knowledge of modern frontend frameworks like React or AngularJS.
  • Understanding of software architecture and reusable design patterns.
  • Proficient use of source-control and versioning workflows (Git).
  • Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Grunt or Gulp.

Competencies:

  • Ability to translate designs into technically feasible frontend implementations (UI/UX Implementation).
  • Ability to build reusable code and libraries.
  • Understanding of rendering performance, network requests, asset optimization, caching and efficient JavaScript execution (Web Performance).
  • Understanding of semantic HTML, keyboard navigation and basic accessibility practices (Accessibility and Cross-Browser Compatibility).
