Job Description
As a Software Engineer I, candidates will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software applications used across scientific and laboratory environments. This entry-level role provides exposure to modern software engineering technologies and practices, including programming, web development, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, automated testing, and continuous integration and delivery. The position is suitable for fresh graduates aiming for a career in software development within scientific research and laboratory technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Software Development: Contribute to the design and development of software applications.
- Component Maintenance: Develop and maintain software components according to project requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and collaborate with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Application Maintenance: Participate in application maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
- System Scope: Work with software applications supporting laboratory instruments, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Best Practices: Follow software development best practices and established engineering processes.
- Testing: Contribute to testing and validation of software functionality.
- Documentation: Document technical specifications and software processes.
- Agile Participation: Participate in Agile development activities.
- Learning: Continuously learn new technologies and engineering practices.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree is required. Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience: No prior software development experience is required (Freshers).
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
- Knowledge of web technologies including HTML5, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and data structures
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
