Job Description
As a Software Engineer I at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software applications used across scientific and laboratory environments. This role is ideal for freshers interested in a career in software development, offering exposure to modern engineering practices. You will work with web technologies, REST APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, automated testing, and CI/CD, supporting applications connected to scientific research and laboratory technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Software Development: Contribute to the design and development of software applications. Develop and maintain software components according to project requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders.
- Application Maintenance: Participate in application maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
- System Focus: Work with software applications supporting laboratory instruments, cloud platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Best Practices: Follow software development best practices and established engineering processes.
- Testing & Documentation: Contribute to testing and validation of software functionality. Document technical specifications and software processes.
- Agile & Learning: Participate in Agile development activities. Continuously learn new technologies and engineering practices.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree is required. Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience: Freshers (no prior software development experience is required).
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
- Knowledge of web technologies including HTML5, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and data structures
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
