Job Description
As a Software Test Engineer I, you will contribute to the quality and reliability of software products developed by Thermo Fisher Scientific. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies. You will be responsible for creating test plans, writing test cases, executing test protocols, identifying defects, and helping ensure that software meets the required quality standards. Test automation is an important part of the position. Candidates should have experience with tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, and JUnit and should be comfortable using programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript. The position also covers API testing, performance testing, CI/CD, version control, defect tracking, and test management. Roles and Responsibilities
- Testing Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive software testing strategies.
- Test Case Development: Create detailed test plans and test cases based on product requirements.
- Protocol Execution: Write and execute test protocols to validate software functionality.
- Functional Testing: Perform functional and software quality testing.
- Automation: Develop and maintain automated test cases.
- Automation Tools: Use automation tools such as Selenium, TestComplete, and JUnit.
- Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects.
- Management Systems: Use defect tracking and test management systems such as JIRA, TestRail, and ALM.
- API Testing: Perform API testing to validate application interfaces.
- Performance Testing: Contribute to performance testing activities.
- Issue Resolution: Work with developers and other engineering teams to investigate and resolve defects.
- Agile Development: Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.
- Lifecycle Support: Support testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
- CI/CD & Version Control: Work with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems. Use Git as part of collaborative software development and testing workflows.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Communication: Communicate test results, defects, risks, and technical findings clearly.
- Continuous Learning: Learn new technologies and adapt testing approaches as product requirements evolve.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree is required. Preferred Fields: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, or related fields.
Experience: 0–2 years of relevant experience.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and quality control processes.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Experience with Selenium, TestComplete, or JUnit.
- Ability to create and execute test plans, test cases, and test protocols.
- Experience with JIRA, TestRail, ALM, or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Knowledge of Git and version control systems.
- Understanding of API testing concepts and practices.
- Knowledge of performance testing is preferred.
- (Preferred) ISTQB or an equivalent software testing certification.
