Job Description
The Data Analysis Engineer position is part of Volvo Group India's ExcelHer returnship program. The role focuses on analyzing battery testing datasets and helping develop an AI-based assistant that can support engineering teams. Participants will collect and understand battery test data, identify important parameters and signals, develop scripts and analytical workflows, and help implement AI- or rule-based logic for validating test results. An important part of the role is comparing AI-generated outputs with engineering expectations. This means the candidate will not simply train a model and stop there. The work includes validation, testing, analysis, usability improvement, robustness, documentation, and collaboration. The role is therefore suitable for someone who enjoys both technical analysis and understanding how engineering systems behave in the real world.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Data Collection & Understanding: Collect and understand relevant battery testing datasets.
- Parameter Identification: Identify important battery-test parameters, signals, and KPIs.
- Data Analysis: Analyze raw, structured, and semi-structured engineering data.
- Script & Workflow Development: Develop scripts and workflows for engineering data analysis.
- Tool Prototyping: Build prototype tools that support data analysis and investigation.
- AI/Rule Logic Implementation: Support the implementation of AI-based logic for test-result verification. Support rule-based approaches for validating engineering test results.
- AI Assistant Testing: Test the AI assistant using representative battery test cases.
- Output Validation: Compare AI-supported outputs against expected engineering results. Validate the accuracy and usefulness of analytical outputs.
- Anomaly Identification: Identify trends, anomalies, and unusual behavior in battery test data.
- Usability Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve the usability of the AI assistant.
- Robustness & Scalability: Support improvements in robustness and scalability.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with battery engineers and data specialists. Work with software teams to develop and improve analytical solutions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document analysis, findings, workflows, and recommendations. Contribute to improving engineering investigation and reporting processes.
- Solution Extension: Support the extension of the solution to other systems and components.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: B.E/B.Tech qualification.
Experience: The opportunity is part of Volvo Group India's ExcelHer career returnship program. The program is designed for individuals who have taken a career break of one year or more.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of data analysis and engineering datasets.
- Python or a similar programming language.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or intelligent assistants (AI/ML).
- Ability to work with raw, structured, and semi-structured data.
