Job Description
For the Wells Fargo Recruitment 2026 drive, the IT infrastructure team is looking for a Level 1 (L1) Network Engineer to provide critical first-line operational support. This role is responsible for the continuous monitoring, triaging, and resolution of network incidents to ensure high service availability. Working closely with global NOC/NMC teams, the engineer will respond to alerts within defined SLAs, document troubleshooting steps meticulously, and escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams. This role requires adaptability to a 24×7 operational environment and a keen eye for noise-reduction activities in the monitoring systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitoring & Incident Management: Monitor network alerts (F5, Cisco, Fortinet, Voice, SD-WAN) using NMS tools. Acknowledge alerts within defined SLAs/MTTA, perform initial diagnoses, and create accurate tickets.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Execute basic troubleshooting for routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Assist in identifying false alerts to reduce system noise.
- Documentation & Compliance: Update incident tickets with accurate notes, logs, and resolution steps. Maintain and enhance L1 documentation, runbooks, and SOPs while adhering to change management procedures.
- Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with L2/L3 teams for escalations. Participate in shift handovers, team huddles, quality reviews, and continuous operational improvement discussions.
- Security Implementation: Utilize established security and regulatory policies to implement secured network solutions and resolve end-user hardware/application issues.
Skills and Eligibility Criteria
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E/B.Tech), Computer Science, IT, or equivalent (B.Sc).
Experience: 0–2 years of hands-on experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or Network Management Center (NMC). Alternatively: 2+ years of Network Engineering experience demonstrated through work, training, or military experience.
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of core networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Understanding of VPN technologies and basic firewall rules.
- Familiarity with Cisco IOS/ASA, Fortinet, and F5 concepts is highly preferred.
- Exposure to monitoring and log management tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or FortiAnalyzer.
Competencies:
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent will be considered a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability, excellent ticket-writing communication skills, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment.
